Work Experience

Work Experience

  • Senior Software Solution Engineer, Progress

    Dec, 2020 - Present

    • Lead all North America region technical pre-sales involving the Progress Corticon Business Rules Management System, whether through inbound inquiries, demo requests, RFPs, or cross sells to existing Progress customers.

    • Present demos of Corticon to new prospects, and build highly tailored demos as sales cycles progress.

    • Understand use cases for business rules and business process automation and translate this understanding into tailored demos across various industries and use cases. Common private sector use cases/demos — loan origination, insurance claims handling, sales lead routing, configuring orders of complex products, payment integrity, medical episode analytics. Common public sector use cases/demos — Medicaid program eligibility, child welfare and human services assistance, licensing and credential management (e.g. Certified Public Accountants, Realtor licensing), property tax calculations, safety inspections.

    • Build and demo Corticon implementations and deployments that illustrate compatibility with required integrations/runtime environments. This could mean deploying Corticon ‘Decision Services’ onto Corticon Server in .NET/Java environments as either web services or in-process (embedded into the application), on premises or cloud/container based. Other times, it requires generating Decision Service serverless functions, runnable in FaaS environments (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions), client side JavaScript in browser/mobile apps

    • Demonstrate Corticon's capabilties for Testing deployed rules using Postman, SoapUI, Insomnia etc.

    • Demonstrate Corticon's capabilties for scripting packaging, deployment, testing, and reporting with command line tooling and ant macros

    • Demonstrate Corticon's capabilties for integrating with external datasources (e.g. reading/writing from a relational database as part of a Corticon Decision Service transaction, integration with data via REST APIs)

    • Demonstrate how to invoke Corticon using REST/JSON, SOAP/XML, business objects

    • Liase and expand relationships with system integration partners, including Deloitte, Gainwell, and Accenture especially for public sector pursuits where Corticon is well-adopted.

    • Present remote and in person product roadmap and feature retrospective presentations to current customers, tailored to their respective use cases.

    • Attend and man company’s booth at industry trade shows including National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) annual conference, Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference (MESC), State Healthcare IT Connect Summit, and the IT Solutions Management for Human Services (ISM) annual conference.

    • Participate in technology communities focused on related technologies, submit responses to implementation challenges, hackathons, and academic conferences (e.g. presented at the Declarative AI conference in September 2021, built demo of Corticon.js as an enabling technology to FHIR-compliant decision automation. Links to recording available upon request).

    • Identify and learn third party tools and technologies complementary to Corticon, prove out feasibility by building demos and presenting these ideas to internal audiences. For example, I Identified and engaged with a desktop virtualization software provider that Progress moved forward with to virtualize the Eclipse-based Corticon Studio application.

I worked with Seth for 18 months at Oracle. During that time, I could always count on him to take the time to understand a customer's business, and listen to their needs and challenges. Seth's strongest qualities include the ability to connect with customers and prospects, and offer guidance in terms of identifying the proper solution(s). He's a Customer Advocate at the core. These qualities combined with his deep technical acumen allow him to connect with customers while building a tremendous level of credibility. Any team would be lucky to have Seth.

I had the privilege of working with Seth during his 2 years at Oracle. Seth is a self-starter who consistently delivers results. Whenever I needed a honest opinion on a process or training, he always delivered in a detailed and professional way. Seth always worked extremely hard and his work was always precise. I recommend him for any position he applies for and would hire him back in a heartbeat.

Seth is a guy that is strategic in his approach, but can also execute on his plan. I worked with Seth at Oracle for a year where we partnered together to help customers (and prospective customers) get the most value from our CX offerings. Seth was instrumental in helping me get up to speed quickly and understanding challenges that the customers were facing and how Oracle could help. Seth and I worked together to target prospect companies and I could always count on him to lead with comfortable business conversations that opened the door to deeper understanding of the customer's needs that ultimately led to great sales opportunities. He understands both the sales and client management aspects of the tech industry and I expect him to accomplish big things. Seth is the guy you want on your team.

Seth is a salesperson the way a salesperson should be. He takes the time to understand his customers' needs, bring in the right resources, and apply best practices to his work product. He does all of this with extreme professionalism, candor, and affability. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Seth during my time at Oracle.
