  • The Hyperfine Spectrum of RbCl, Ohio State University

    Published on: Dec 31, 1998

A molecular beam electric resonance spectrometer has been used to observe pure hyperfine transistions of all four isotopic forms of rubidium chloride, with a linewidth of about 150 Hz. So far 179 observed lines have been identified as belonging to $^{85}Rb^{35}Cl$, and tentatively fitted to determine the hyperfine constants, including nuclear quadrupole and spin-rotation interactions for both nuclei, and the tensor and scalar spin-spin interactions, for vibrational states $v = 0 - 3$ and rotational states $J = 1 - 6$. An additional 103 lines have been identified and fitted for $^{87}Rb^{35}Cl$. The possibilities of a rubidium nuclear octupole interaction, and (in the case of $^{85}Rb)$ a nuclear electric hexadecapole interaction, are also being considered.

John has been an outstanding partner in leading and influencing Product Management best practices at our company. John consistently brings fresh perspective and ideas to the table regarding how best to obtain customer perspective, balance their needs with our priorities, and identify positive outcomes that propel the organization forward. Not only does John bring awareness and elevation to the Product Management discipline, he champions education to his peers and customers. Personally, he helped me identify key opportunities to leverage DataOps that address organizational needs, as well as make connections to others within the company that help champion the cause. He is always thinking of possible approaches to modernize our work and find efficiencies in the way we operate. He balances a startup perspective that encourages innovation with a process and operational mindset that seeks ways to scale products to the enterprise. I have seen John unify and lead tech teams to quickly mobilize on new products, get them educated and up and running to quickly deliver value.

  • Jen Zhao

John is a deep product thinker. In an organization that is large and nascent to product management, John stands out as someone who thinks innovatively about how product really should be run. He has given me great advice on sticky situations and I hope to work with him in the future, in a different product capacity.

  • Raj Khanal

John brings a wealth of leading edge insights both in product management as well as technology to the team and larger organization. He is keen to share his learnings and experiences and is disciplined about challenging sub optimal norms through constructive collaboration. John is laser focused on product vs. project and outcome vs. output. He has a learning mindset and strives to practice hypothesis/assumption testing as much as feasible.

John is a valuable colleague one can partner with easily, with a can do attitude and one who contributes timely, relevant and actionable ideas consistently.

  • Sagar Lambor

John is a very customer focused product manager who deeply cares doing product management right. His prior start-up experience makes him an invaluable asset to the company. Diversity of his experience brings different perspective to the problem looking through various nooks and corners at particular problem. He is passionate and truly believes in making difference. He maintains friendly and valuable relationship with the team and inspires them to do the right thing. John will do great wherever he goes.

  • Gayathri Balakumar

I had the pleasure of working with John, at Capital One. He filled in the role of a Product Manager efficiently and was always on top of things. He would come to the team and set the tone right for the day. Super Efficient is what comes to my mind, when I think about working with John. John is always ready with the requirements and has always guided the team whenever required. John's ability to handle the requirements from the product perspective and to guide the technical team with the questions was highly commendable. His laugh was contagious and there was never a dull moment with John during the meetings. As an engineer who worked for John, he has my highest recommendation as a product manager. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

  • Diana Taylor

I have worked with John at Capital One over the past year. He is very knowledgeable on product management, and has helped to evolve our product organization with his expertise. I have learned a lot from John and he is great to work with.

  • Michael Schmidt II

I worked closely with John as he designed an API that I would ultimately be consuming via a mobile app. His API design was the cleanest out of any API I have ever worked with throughout my career and he took time to fully document it. He brought in Stoplight for the documentation/design (a tool I had never previously heard of) and it dramatically improved our workflow to the point that we could begin to design around future calls that had not yet been built because for the first time we had a full contract of what the call would return in all scenarios. I would highly recommend John in any kind of API architect/Design lead role.

  • Trey Robinson

John is great to work with. He was a huge breadth of knowledge. If you come across a hard problem that needs creative problem solving and big picture thinking then John is a great one to have in the room He is well read and can go deep technically while also stepping back seeing the long term implications of a solution. John is always on top of the latest industry innovations and I often hear about upcoming product and technologies months before they become trends. . I would not hesitate to work with John again.

  • Kim Mahan, CISSP (we/us)

John played a critical role in building the foundation of MAXX, working with us for more than a year as a Master Technologist and a core member of our leadership team. This was during a time where we were clearly still 'figuring it out', as far as our business model - which required a lot of quick thinking and each of us wearing a lot of hats. John brought much-needed and appreciated engineering expertise, a process mindset and most importantly -- a strong desire and ability to mentor aspiring technologists.

By far, John's biggest asset is his heart. Even after moving on to new technical challenges, he has continued to stay in touch, and is always trying to add value to our organization when he does. We are truly grateful for all that he has and continues to contribute to MAXX, which includes touching the lives of many of our alumni by serving as an unforgettable 'first mentor' in launching their careers!

John Mckinzie is an experienced unicorn. Equally comfortable in the business stack or development stack, John is able to understand the big picture and lead teams to outcomes that align with desired business outcomes. He has plenty of experience choosing the best possible path to success and presenting this to the stakeholders. I know this because I have experienced his smart, deliberate, methods myself. In fact, I've heard from multiple sources that company X was successful and acquired in large part to the role John McKinzie played.

In addition to technical fluency and an MBA, John is one of those rare people who also make work fun. John is more than a team player, he is a team builder. He is consistently one of the first people to offer help to his other teammates and the first to congratulate teammates on their accomplishments and contributions. John has a wide pallet of hilarious and killer animated gifs which he quickly draws from to express the inexpressible and make work both satisfying and rewarding for everyone else.

John, a Navy veteran, brings discipline to the process. As a product guru, John applies what has worked in the past while cherry-picking the best of the new bleeding edge methodologies and business applications. He is a monk when it comes to commitment and focus to strategy. His adherence to solid and trusted principles such as the R.I.C.E. (methods for feature prioritization), J.T.B.D. (jobs to be done) to unpack product functionality and AGILE Scrum keep work on the track, teams from burning out, and products from exploding in the hands of customers.

It takes wisdom and experience to get results in short periods of time. John has both and is able to share them across teams. While he has very strong opinions he is an egoless implementer who will pipe up and challenge direction (in a professional way) if he sees a pothole or pitfall ahead.

John is a highly effective manager and leads by example. And when the seas get rough as they often do with early-stage companies and new ventures, John doesn't abandon ship or his teammates. He can be trusted to stick with and deliver as promised.

John has forged a lasting impact on the company I founded, Digital ReLab, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him on the cover of INC magazine in his next role. I cannot highly recommend him enough for any position — Product, Strategy, Technical Implementation, Team Hiring, Dev Ops, Requirements Gathering and Definition, and even product marketing if cats playing the piano is your thing.
