Volunteer, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Community Service
Jul, 2015 - May, 2019
DOCS holds 10 annual free health fairs in various communities throughout Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Broward counties, with an additional 4 free clinics operating for these medically underserved populations. We screen for the most prevalent diseases in our community including; hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, vision loss, obesity, and depression, as well as colon, breast, cervical, and skin cancers. Using a referral system of free clinics, we also act as a portal for entry to care for those patients identified to be at risk
Led the team who founded the South Kendall Health Fair in 2016-17
Served as the longitudinal access coordinator from 2017-18, connecting high risk patients with free/low cost follow-up care
Participated in 16 health fairs between 2015-19
