I enjoy coding, its just something I get. Conquering a complex problem and translating that into code is the most rewarding, as well as most frustrating, aspect of programming. My strongest language is C# and it's ugly step sister, VB.Net. I've focused over the last couple of years on Web Development, in both the front end and back end (Angular, AngularJS, .NET ASP MVC 4+). My foundation in desktop dev (C# & VB.Net Winforms, VB6) and have dones some game development (AS3/Flash). I also know my way around a database (MSSQL, MySQL).
It's my belief that, technical skills does not a good coder make, you also need the complimentary business skills. A fact very much over looked at Uni. So when I got the opportunity to take a Project Management course, Prince2, and a Public Speaking course, via Toast Masters, I took it. Not only did it give me an understanding of the business side of coding but also a great appreciation for it, which is what I believe separates me from most developers.
My goal someday is to start my own Software Development firm in Newcastle, admittedly it's quite the pipe dream, go big or go home I say. Until then, I'm working towards strengthening and refining my coding skills in a variety of technologies with the intention of progressing to a team manager role within the next couple of years.
Currently I am looking for more contract roles but am open to full positions.
